RAF FEDERATION
The Russian All-Round Fighting Federation was registered in 2004. The main goal of this organisation is to develop and promote RAF.
The important part of this goal is to prepare the instructors personnel. The Instructor is the main link in the development and dissemination of RAF. That is why from the very beginning the Federation has been holding the Summer Instructors Seminars. These seminars attract athletes from all regions of Russia and ex-USSR countries as well.
Due to the effective work in preparing the Instructors, the Federation has organised the major All-Russian Championship on its second year of work. All-round athletes from many regions of Russia have taken part in the Championship.
The Russian All-Round Fighting Federation is one of the most competent and fast growing Russian organisations professionally promoting Russian combat traditions.
Goals
The goals of our organisation lie not only in expansion of the network of clubs within Russia, but in opening our representations abroad as well.
We are proud with our system of fighting, and that is why we offer those who are interested to join it.
In RAF it is the quality of teaching that comes first, followed by the originality of the method.
Clubs
At the moment RAF clubs are open in the following Russian cities: Bryansk, Voljsky, Saratov, Engels, Balashov, Volsk, Tolyatti, Krasnoyarsk.
Competitions
The RAF competitions are designed following the scheme common to any sport multiathlon. Every sportsman must compete in each discipline consequently. The results in individual disciplines are being calculated according to the original method in order to draw up the final multiathlon rating.
The competitions practice is being actively introduced to the RAF clubs. Although not all RAF students are ready to compete in all eight disciplines, about 70% of the practitioners try themselves on club and city competitions in their first year of study. The athletes that show stable multiathlon ratings go on to compete on regional and Russian Championships.
As any modern martial sport, RAF uses accurate division into age and weight categories.
Instructors
To become the Beginner Level Instructor one has to be a man over 18 years and have no serious chronic diseases. The theoretical and practical examinations have to be successfully passed.
In order to be the Sport Level Instructor one has to be previously qualified as the Beginner Level Instructor. According to the results of the RAF competitions (at least 3 prizes in different disciplines must be taken), the seeker is admitted to the theoretical examinations. Those who pass the examination become qualified as the Sport Level Instructor.
In order to be the seeker for the Combat Level Instructor qualification, one has to possess the Sport Level qualification. He has to pass the special qualifying tasks and the theoretical examination.
Symbols
The emblem of the RAF Federation is the variant of the Slavic symbol called "Swarga" or "Swarog Wheel". It is an ancient solar symbol, being represented by the eight elements cross rotating clockwise. It is depicted in gold or bright yellow colour.
It is used to depict the emblem on the red background. In Slavic tradition the red colour is a symbol of beauty and vitality, while the gold colour is the symbol of the Sun. The combination of these colours is the most powerful among all colour combinations.
Any other interpretations of the symbols of the organisation are considered incorrect and deliberately provocative.
The RAF Banner is the red colour cloth with the image of a falcon with extended wings holding the double-edged Russian sword in its paws. The Swagra image crowns the head of the falcon.
